The Crested Geckos were once thought to be extinct, however, they were recently rediscovered in 1994. Since then, they have quickly become a favorite lizard to own due to their low maintenance. Crested Geckos get their name from the fringed crest that begins over their eyes (sometimes thought of as eyelashes) and runs down their neck. They come in a variety of markings and colors, which are also referred to as morphs. They reach approximately 8 inches in total length and can live up to 20 years in captivity depending on their care.

Your gecko will most likely shed every 4 weeks or so. I find this process fascinating! The usual shed process takes place in the evening hours, and is a natural part of the reptile life cycle. Younger geckos may shed more often while growing. The gecko shed begins around the snout where the gecko will lick the dead skin off, then they move to the other sections of the body eating off the dead skin. To ensure a healthy shed proper hydration and humidity is key during this time.

New Caledonia is an Island located East of Austrailia. There are many types of native Geckos in New Caldonian such as the Crested Gecko, the Gargoyle Gecko, Chameleon Gecko, Chahoua Gecko, and Leachianus Gecko, etc. This breed of Geckos make great household pets, and can live upwards of 15 years! They come in an amazing variety of colors. These color patterns are called morphs. At Guiliana's Geckos we strive to create amazing morphs by careful selection and breeding pairing.
